Swindon’s two new MPs are giving their backing to the Swindon Mindful Employer Networkwhich celebrates its 2ndanniversary this year. The network is managed by Richmond Fellowship Wiltshire and funded by NHS Swindon, and provides a free resource to local employers on issues relating to mental health and wellbeing at work.
Robert Buckland (South Swindon) commends the initiative:
“I have attended several of the network’s events and have been impressed by the commitment of local employers to improve mental health within their organisations. Developing positive attitudes to mental health at work is essential. It could even help to retain experienced staff, particularly during difficult economic conditions. I am looking forward to supporting the network and taking part in further meetings and events in the near future.”
Justin Tomlinson (North Swindon) adds:
“I am excited by the progress made by the Swindon Mindful Employer Network and the progressive approach by Swindon employers to supporting their staff. As a local businessman myself, I know that good mental health is critical to the success of the local economy, and initiatives such as these which reduce stigma and help people retain their jobs are to be applauded.”
Network project leader David Latham says:
“The network has received backing from many different quarters but we are delighted by the swift public support shown by Robert and Justin to the principles and aims of Mindful Employer in Swindon. We look forward to introducing our two new MPs to network members in the coming months.”
As part of Conservative plans to see Council Tax frozen, the government is bringing forward a number of measures to help make this possible.
